We call it 'bikiniproof' or the 'beach body', the Italians talk about a prov costume. In Italy everyone seems to be captivated by this 'swimsuit trial'.

Of course, not going along with it saves a lot of stress. And yet we know that many Dutch and Flemish people also want to make a good impression on the beach.

But what about all those corona kilos and the many sitting inside of the past period? How do you ensure that you look a little good in that hip, new bikini?

Fortunately, we have a few golden tips for you that you can use at the last minute as a trump card, if your body does not yet fully pass the bathing suit test.

By the way, the tips below do not only apply to women. Men can also become completely swimsuit-proof with it.

1. The Mediterranean Diet

Do you still have a few weeks to go before your holiday to Italy? Then there is still time to the mediterranean diet to deploy. The Mediterranean diet does not rely on pizza and pasta, as we mainly imagine Italian cuisine. No, the Mediterranean diet revolves around lots of vegetables, legumes, whole grains, fish and chicken. Red meat and dairy are avoided. Just like carbohydrates.

It is popular in Italian cuisine to dine lightly and to choose good ingredients instead of fast food. Not only is the Mediterranean diet very healthy, you will also lose weight. Do you still have some time to discharge those last corona kilos.

2. Eat more protein

You can also use this tip up to a few weeks before your departure. Get your calories from protein temporarily. These not only have the advantage that they strengthen your muscle mass, it also costs more energy to digest them and they satisfy your hunger faster. What you call a win-win-win.

3. Now enter that walk in

Okay, you will need some time for this, but if you start now you can still go to Italy perfectly bikini-proof.

De walk is the Italian variant of the digestive walk or the walk that became popular during corona.

Italians dress nicely and head out as the shadows lengthen in the late afternoon and early evening. They stroll along the seafront or go to the town square to catch the latest gossip.

Of course, the trick is to avoid the temptation of the ice creams and the appetizer to resist. Otherwise, those burned calories will be there in no time!

4. Brown already

If you are going to the Italian sun soon, tan now for the Dutch or Flemish sun (if there is, of course). So the sun is shining a bit, put on that beautiful new bikini and add some color on your terrace or balcony.

If you look a little tanned, you look slimmer and your muscles look better. Of course, pay attention to the sun strength and apply a good factor for your skin.

5. Drink lots of water… then some more

You can use this tip until shortly before departure. In fact, even if you're already in Italy, you should take it to heart.

Drinking a lot of water removes waste products faster, increases metabolism, makes your skin more radiant and you prevent a feeling of hunger that makes you sniff.

This is perhaps the easiest tip of all. Have you not started drinking more water yet? Then fill a glass or bottle and make sure you get at least 8 glasses of water a day.

6. Less screen time, more sleep time

Good sleep is important to maintain your weight. Pay attention to your sleeping pattern in the days leading up to your beach holiday (but always really): dim the lights on time at night, spend less time on screens, moderate alcohol and coffee consumption, go to bed and get up at the same time every day up at the same time.

Sleeping well ensures better calorie burn and makes you look fresher and fruitier in a bikini.

7. Dolce vita

Stress produces the hormone cortisol, which in turn creates fat around your abdomen. bring some more sweet life in your life, so that you experience less stress.

Sounds easier than it is, but just start writing down what causes you stress. Are there things you could do differently? Or with a less full schedule?

And of course, a holiday to la bella italy hopefully gives you a lot of that sweet life already.

8. Last minute workout

Despite everything, have you done too little to become bikini-proof? Then do a short workout before you hit the beach in Italy. A few pushups, a little planking and a few squats. Your muscles tense and you immediately look more confident.

9. Fare la bella figura

One last tip! Treat yourself to something beautiful, even if you're just going to the beach or pool. Fare la bella figura is the Italian tradition to always look good.

Whatever your weight or age, you can choose to pamper yourself at the hairdresser or put on a nice dress for the summer.

For example, wear black. It dresses well and fits perfectly into the Italian image of elegance. Never underestimate what well-fitting clothing (that goes for underwear) does for your self-confidence and it shows.
