Gomorrah the series, season 2

We enjoyed the first season of Gomorrah, the series. A story about a ruthless Camorra family in the infamous Neapolitan neighborhood of Scampia-Secondigliano. The series is based on insights from the books by Roberto Saviano and does not share any storylines with Matteo Garrone's film of the same name. The series follows the grueling developments surrounding a powerful mafia family: the Savastanos.

The Gomorrah series also wants to show the mafia world as it really is. And there's nothing romantic about that, for those who still thought about it Godfather-like scenes. It's about power, about money, about revenge. It is a raw, violent world, which director Stefano Sollima (whose mastermind Suburra appeared in the cinema) is entrusted.

Gomorrah is not a series for the faint of heart, as you can see in the trailer above.

Both narrative and cinematic the first season very well put together. Music, characters, images. Everything was right. And that is clearly captured in HD.

Finally in the Netherlands and Belgium

We had to wait a long time for it. But on Tuesday October 4, Lumière will finally release the second, twelve-part season of Gomorrah on DVD and Blu-ray. This crime series about the Neapolitan Camorra, based on the international bestseller of the same name by Roberto Saviano, is a worldwide success and has already been sold to more than 130 countries. They have already been able to enjoy it in their home country of Italy, as the series was broadcast on Sky. The viewing figures of the second season were higher than ever at 1,3 million.

The Story of Gomorrah Series 2

At the end of season 1 we see how godfather Pietro Savastano escapes from a prison van. After the attack by his former right-hand man Ciro on Pietro's son Genny, the monopoly of the Savastano family seems to have come to an end. Ciro 'the Immortal' stands ready to seize power with his former rival Salvador Conte.

On a stage full of hate, love and revenge, Pietro, Genny, Ciro and Conte are the four protagonists. But then two women enter the same bloody battleground to claim their share of power over Naples. What follows is a violent joust full of trickery and deceit.

The second season of Gomorrah will be available on DVD and Blu-ray from October 4, 2016.
