Skirt Day: Martin Bril introduced the term in the Netherlands. The first day of the year when women are spotted in skirts, legs are shaved and skirts are flapped against the leg while cycling to prevent the underwear from showing.
Men love it. Is it a flaw in the male species? In any case, the Italian can't stand it. Especially not against the bare-legged miniskirt. He has to look at it. Stare. Some will make nasty comments, invite you for a cup of coffee upstairs in their apartment. You are being checked. In the bar your bill is paid by that gentleman over there at that table in the back.
Differences between the Netherlands and Italy
Many Dutch women put on a skirt where Italian ladies may stick with pants and in any case wear tights with their skirts. Dutch women wear shorter skirts to the office or other workplace.
We sometimes sit down with our skirts in a way that leaves little to the imagination and don't mind the occasional show of our underwear. For example, on a bicycle. Or on the beach. That makes Italians drool all the way, with their mouths open. Dutch men are less likely to be shocked in that regard. And also less eager to express their fascination by whispering (or yelling) everything to the women. In that respect, all praise for the Dutch man.
Flirting to get your way

Some Italian women do like the attention of their male compatriots. They use it with great love to get what they want (or to get a free cup of coffee, or just to bring in that customer). It is difficult for Italian men to resist feminine charm.
In the Netherlands it is much more difficult to flirt as a woman in order to get your way in business. In Italy I have seen it many times. But there feminine charm is used with more skill, where the Dutch woman sometimes has to have more of a short skirt. Admit it, the Dutch woman is usually not a model of elegance and style. In Italy, a pantyhose model became a minister. That's the other side.
No more skirt day for me
Other women may become shy, but they are flattered by the attention they get. I also knew a woman in Italy who called back: fatti una segaie: help yourself if you have a problem with your penis!
I haven't worn miniskirts since I'm over 25 and working, but I'll be proud if I can get a man to take my point of view with a little abuse of my natural charm.
Question is: what do you do as a woman? Are you participating in skirt day and do you also choose a short skirt? Do you prefer to use your feminine charm? Or are you someone who answers men verbally?
