Video Column: The Giants of Monte Prama

Today the third and final part in the series of video columns about Sardinia by Maarten Veeger. It is in western Sardinia, near the archaeological excavations of Monte Prama.

Dozens of large statues of warriors have been excavated near the village of Cabras over the course of forty years. The statues are almost 3.000 years old and come from the time park of the nuragic people. Excavations at the same site resumed in May this year. At the end of September, two more 'giants of Monte Prama' were found. These statues were in remarkably good condition.

The stone warriors are now first completely uncovered and then included in the museum of Cabras, where many other puzzled sculptures can also be found.

De gigante di Monte Prama will also be shown at the 2015 Milan World's Fair. They should become the new symbols of Sardinia. In his new video column, Italy correspondent Maarten Veeger reports from the location of the excavations.
