Travel guide: Italy, When & Where to

Where to What for Italy

During these cold days, we prefer to make plans again to enjoy the sunny south. Of course we don't just want to lie on the beach, but also enjoy culture, nature and good food.

As Italy enthusiasts, of course, we already know where we should be. But even within beautiful Italy, the choice is not so easy. North or South? Mountains or plains? Coastal or inland? City or region? Fortunately, a book has recently come on the market that helps us with that choice: When, Where to Italy.

We know Capitool Travel Guides from those colorful booklets with walking routes and open-work churches. In their own words, they show 'what others only write about'. The photos in the Capitol travel guides are always well done, and the same can certainly be said of this thick book printed on luxury paper. Beautiful images in color over the full 336 pages of all the beauty that Italy has to offer. And that's a lot.

Do's and don'ts

That's why a team of Italy experts and locals in the do's and don'ts book. Instead of per region or area, the guide is divided into the months of the year. The idea is that you think about the month in which you want to travel to Italy and then open the book in that month.

A nice concept, which above all helps to discover parts of Italy that are still unknown to you. Because while some areas are better to visit in winter and others in summer, every city or region offers something interesting for every season. Where When Where Italy mainly succeeds in providing a nice overview of the highlights of a city or area.

Beautiful photos

There are always 2 pages set up for an introductory text and practical information about accessibility and accommodation, the weather, prices and tips for eating. In addition, the guide gives suggestions to spend a day, a weekend or several days and you get to see a number of practical do's and don'ts. But most of the space is there for the brilliant color photos.

On the coffee table

Although this bulky book can be used as a travel guide, both in advance to plan your vacations and during your trip to see what you can do in the area, the book is at its best as a coffee table book. To show off to your friends who still go to France every year or to pick up yourself again and again to swoon over the trip you made before or hope to make again.

Written by Edward Hendriks

I came to Italy for the first time almost 25 years ago and have been returning every year since then (usually several times a year). In everyday life I am copywriter. When I spent a month in Naples in the spring of 2009, the ideas for a mafia thriller surfaced and I started this web magazine in the summer of that same year. The thriller 'Blood Money' was finally released in 2012. I have now published three thrillers and am working on new manuscripts. Together with a number of enthusiastic other Italophiles I continue to blog for This is Italy.
