The Italian gestures, the paterfamilias, the kitchen, mammonia. extroverted. The photographers used well-known Dutch actors for an expressive image. A somewhat too stereotypical image of 'the Italian'. The image that is alive and created by American films about Italian culture. And all that together at one table ensures confirmation of a stereotype. But it is an art to portray it so precisely.
Stereotyping
I wonder if Italians can appreciate this stereotyping. It's like capturing the Dutchman with a euthanasia syringe in his hands, next to someone with a joint and a plate of stew on the table. If the Italian were to record that, Maxima would say that the 'Dutchman' does not exist. And then we would all agree with her.

But we love this image. This is why people are going to learn Italian and go on vacation there. And the Italian also owes it a bit to himself. Because let's be honest: all that fuss for nothing. Isn't that really necessary at all? No, in the Netherlands we do it more civilized, calmer and more controlled. With a little less passion and danger.
