This Is Italy
It may be so slowly known that we are fans of Nutella. But you have fans and you have fans. And the latter go a big step further in their adoration. They worship the divine bread spread with its own saint's day: World Nutella Day.
On the 'official website' for World Nutella Day (in no way affiliated with the producer Ferrero) they put it this way:
“Nutella is more than just a 'chocolate hazelnut spread', it's a way of life. From childhood memories to leaky pancakes, from breakfasts on vacation to spooning sessions on the couch, Nutella is ubiquitous in the memories of children and many adults around the world.”
Nutella Love
In 2007 decided Sara rosso, an American blogger living in Italy, that it was time for a day to celebrate the sugary sweet hazelnut goodness. She found an ally in Michelle Fabio, an American with Italian roots, who has lived in her ancestors' house in Calabria since 2003. The goal of both ladies? Spreading Nutella love around the world.
And that seems to have worked well. Today – February 5 – many blogs and even more serious media are paying attention to the concept of World Nutella Day. But what does it actually mean? Do you need to do something special today instead of just having your Nutella sandwich and glass of milk for breakfast?
Are you participating in World Nutella Day?
On the website Nutella Day gives the organization some tips on how you can 'participate'. For example, Twitter about Nutella, come up with a new recipe and post a photo on Facebook, or create a work of art in which Nutella plays a role.
Anything goes, as long as it contributes to the wave of Nutella love that washes over the earth today, February 5.
