From November 15 on lumiereseries.com and November 26 on DVD: Commissioner Maltese. This 8-part Italian crime drama from the makers of the worldwide success Gomorrah is based on true events in Italy in the 70s.
The background is the relocation of an important center of the heroin trade from Marseille to Sicily. The move will revolutionize the world's largest criminal organization, the mafia.
Dario Maltese is a detective with the drug control unit in Rome. he struggles
with a dark incident from his past. His father died in the
Sicilian town of Trapani when Dario was a boy. The emotional
wound never healed and therefore Maltese always has its birthplace
avoided.
At the beginning of the series, Dario Maltese finally returns home.
His best friend Gianni Peralta, also a police detective, goes
married and asked him as a witness. Before the marriage can be consummated, however, Gianni is murdered in front of Dario.
Maltese then asks for a transfer and takes over Gianni's business. He reconstructs the investigation that led to his friend's death. It's a tricky, dangerous business full of false leads. During the investigation, Maltese falls in love with a photographer who, along with a journalist, fights the mafia
fights.
Gradually, Maltese discovers that his friend gained insight into the criminal organization's ties to politics and business. In doing so, he uncovers the real reason behind his father's death and personally comes into contact with the power of the mafia.
