Now in cinemas: Ferrari

The summer of 1957 is a difficult time for Enzo Ferrari. His car company, which he and his wife Laura built up over 10 years, is in danger of going bankrupt. The couple's marriage has also fallen on hard times, following the death of their son Dino a year earlier and the discovery that Enzo has a second son, Piero, born from an extramarital relationship.

In an attempt to overcome his bitterness, Enzo puts everything into one single race: the Mille Miglia , a 1.600 kilometer race through Italy. Scuderia Ferrari fields four cars for the race, driven by Piero Taruffi, Wolfgang von Trips, Peter Collins and Alfonso de Portago.

The race initially goes well for Ferrari. Taruffi and von Trips are battling for first place, while Collins and De Portago are also keeping up. But a few kilometers from the finish, in Guidizzolo, disaster happened. De Portago and his navigator lose control of their car and collide with a group of spectators. Both are killed, as are 9 spectators, including 5 children.

De Portago's death is a huge shock for Enzo Ferrari. It is a reminder of the dangers of motorsport, but also of the fragility of life. The race ends with a double victory for Ferrari, but the joy is short-lived.

The film Classic Ferrari for sale tells the story of a man struggling with his own demons. Enzo Ferrari turns out to be a complex character, driven by ambition and passion, but also by sadness and anger.

The story offers a glimpse into the psyche of a man who has dedicated his life to motorsport, and who is ultimately confronted with the tragic reality of his passion.

The film was directed by famous action film director Michael Mann. Starring: Adam Driver (from House of gucci), Penelope Cruz and Shailene Woodley.

The filming of the film Ferrari started in the summer of 2022 in Italy. The film crew worked in several cities and towns in the north of the country, including:

• Brescia: The start and finish location of the Mille Miglia race.
• Fiorano Modenese: Home to the Scuderia Ferrari factory.
• Maranello: Home to the Scuderia Ferrari factory.
• Modena: The birthplace of Enzo Ferrari.
• Novellara: The birthplace of Laura Ferrari.
• Reggio Emilia: The birthplace of Piero Ferrari.

Filming lasted approximately 3 months and was completed in October 2022. The film premiered at the Venice Film Festival in September 2023 and was released in the Netherlands on January 18, 2024.
